ERPT vol. 4:
“From e-Voting to e-Participation: A New Challenge for Europe?”
New Submission Deadline: 15 November 2005
The European Review of Political Technologies (ERPT) is soliciting high quality papers for its volume 4 entitled: From e-Voting to e-Participation: A New Challenge for Europe?.
Please send your article for review, a short CV (1 paragraph) and a recent picture in JPEG format before September 15, 2005 to the following email: editor@politech-institute.org
Papers' selection and review will be carried out by ERPT Editorial Review Board. Authors will be notified by email after September 15, 2005 if their submitted paper has been accepted for publication.

ERPT vol. 4 thematic

Europe has witnessed promising take-up of e-Voting and e-Campaigns, with UK’s first Internet intensive elections and the French Internet Debate on the EU Constitutional Treaty. e-Participation enhancing representative democracy and opening new possibilities for citizens and civil society for interactivity in the democratic processes, is emerging as the natural development of e-Administration to e-Democracy and a new challenge for tomorrow’s Europe.
The recently revised EU Lisbon Agenda to boost Europe’s competitiveness and innovation, central drivers to build a knowledge-based economy and improve quality of life of European citizens, and the new EU Constitutional Treaty which sets the political and democratic stage of tomorrow’s European polity, both emphasize the need for more democracy, transparency, trust and confidence in the decision-making and policy shaping processes.
To complement Round-Table 8, “From e-Voting to e-Participation: A New Challenge for Europe?, POLITECH INSTITUTE is organizing in the framework of The 6th Worldwide Forum on e-Democracy, ERPT 4th Volume will address the challenging issue of e-Participation through Information Society recent developments, innovative projects and emerging concepts of active citizen, political entrepreneur and knowledge civil servant in a continuously evolving knowledge-based society with an emphasis on digital convergence as put forward by Viviane Reding, Commissioner for Information Society and Media, in the new i2010 programme of the European Commission.
